Seashell memory making art!

When I am on vacation my mind starts to overflow with fun ideas and art projects. Me and the kids had so much fun playing in the ocean and gathering shells. Cade was being so brave and dunking his head under the water. He would dunk down and then quickly say " I faced my fear"! Ha! I love that he is even aware of facing his fears and then doing it! We splashed, played, faced fears, collected shells, and it was just so great.

So of course we wanted to make some art with all our fun shells! We went to the local hard ware store and got some wood, glue, and some resin and went to work! We already had paint at the beach house.

Check out the final results. Aren't these fabulous! I love these! And the kids did them!!!! Gosh. I'm in love. Such a great art piece that reminds me of such a fun day spend with my kiddos and family!

Side effects of Bible Journaling

So I just started this whole Bible Journaling craze and it is so fun! I have used pen, crayons, colored pencils, watercolor, and acrylic paint to illustrate what God is teaching me and I gotta tell you it's so so fun! It has revived my love for the word. I can't wait to get up and read some of Proverbs wisdom and listen to what God is teaching through that passage.

This past weekend we went to the beach and y'all this front porch is my most favorite place. So many dreams and plans have been made right here. And it's overflowing to Kloe too. She said she was it was a perfect morning with her coffee, drawing, and on the front porch. She is so my child!

But what I really love and what just melted my heart is when I saw this scribbled in her notebook. She had been seeing my art journals and wanted to 'be like momma' and gosh.. I just love her. I love that at a young age she is understanding the importance of spending time with God and knowing his word. This was a very cool side effect of Bible Journaling that I didn't see coming. I wonder if they make any journaling bibles for kids? Or perhaps I will just buy her a sketchbook to use in conjuction with her kids bible. Either way, we're gonna stay with this bible journaling thing. It's revived my heart and is overflowing to my daughter... so yay for Art and all that it does!

Operation Christmas child (P'zazz style!)

I am super excited about this years Service project for our P'zazz students! We are doing 'Operation Christmas Chidl" P'zazz style! I ordered a ton of white shoe boxes from here http://www.uline.com/BL_5647/One-Piece-Corrugated-Shoe-Boxes

We are inviting our students and their parents to come have free pizza and paint their shoe boxes.. then take them and fill them up and bring them back.

This is going to be so fun and such a great way for the kids to use their art to serve others.

Actually, I am thinking of opening this up to the whole community on a different night. We will have tables full of markers, paint, duct tape, washi tape, etc. I can't wait to see what they create!

One thing I know for sure... if we can teach these kids the joy of giving at a young age then they can go out and be the little world changers they are meant to be!

Just when I wanted to quit

Has God ever called you to something but then it got so dang hard you really really wanted to quit. You asked God "Why!!". That was me just  a few weeks ago. For the past 11 years we have had a ministry of working with low income kids in our area. Our format for what we do has changed over the years and now we pick them up and bring them to church to our AWANA program every week. And y'all... it's hard. Over the years there has been so much struggle, so many discipline problems, so many disappointments to see kids you invest in turn their backs , it's just hard. So the other night on the church bus as we were taking the kids home I literally looked out the window as we were driving down the road and out loud just said " Whhhhyyyy??". I was asking God why in the world did he call me to this. Was he sure this is where is still wanted me . I felt ineffective, overwhelmed, and just frustrated.

And then , this is so cool how God works and shows up, that very next week 3 of our kids accepted Christ. In just the short time of 2 weeks God has restored so much hope within this ministry and within my heart. Several of the kids have started asking for help on their projects. So of course I bring them to the studio and help them. It fills me so much to see what pride they take in creating work they are proud of. It was so much fun!

( These girls were making their own cook books and had to double, triple, and half the recipes. Some of the math was hard for them but they got it and I'm thinking they will ace the project!)
( Goodness, look at that giggle! I tried to capture it at it's peak! )
( The plant cell and animal cell project! I'm so proud they asked for help. They didn't limit their vision to what resources they had. They sought help. That is such a awesome life lesson and I'm so proud of them.)

And when this sweet boy got baptized I just heard God saying " Yes Kasey, I'm sure. This is where I want you. Don't doubt me and what I am doing".

Isn't that just the cutest smile from this shy boy. Gosh, I love him. I'm so thankful that we have such a big God who uses us despite our inadequacies and who encourages us just when we need it.
