Extreme Room Makeover

I don't know about you but when I use to watch Extreme Home Makeover I would just cry and ask God "Please make me be a part of something like this". I wanted to use my art and decorating skills to bless others lives. Several years ago when they were in Alabama I even put a bug in their ear that I would be more than happy to help. I just sooooo love making a  difference in how someone thinks or feels about their self. Well, needless to say my job with Extreme Home Makeover didn't happen but I recently thought "what is stopping me from at least doing what I CAN do". I can't build a new house but I can decorate a room! There is a super sweet family that I have gotten to know really well this year. They live in government housing and don't have a lot of money for extra things like room decor soooooo.... Me and my amazing momma decided to surprise the kids for Christmas with a room makeover!!! We met with  their mom and had everything planned out for months. On Christmas Eve she woke up and got them out of the house for about 4 hours. We came in, did our thing, and waited for them to get home. When they got home we were waiting outside like we had some gifts for them. We went inside and opened the presents and when they walked into the back of the house near their rooms we heard screams and screams and more screams!!!! Ahhhhhh! They LOVED it! It was soooo super fun and their room looked soooo good! I don't think the pictures even did it justice.

And After!!!! WooHOO!

We even made them a gallery since the oldest girl is a P'zazz Art Student she has lots original art work!

This was so super fun! Their reaction was priceless!
Yay! Merry Christmas!

So glad you found us! This is just the beginning of what I hope for this little blog. I want this to be a place you come to for inspiration in art, inspiration in how you live your life, and inspiration in giving. Giving of yourself is absolutely the most rewarding way to live. I have some super fun things coming up next week! Can't wait to share with you!

Mixed Media with kids!

I am loving this new world of Mixed Media and it's even more fun to see the kids face light up when you show them new ways to make art!! Here we mod podged old book pages on the canvases. Then we added interesting letters with stencils and dots with rolling pin foam stamps. We also added some distressing ink to the background to give the look of aged paper. And then we painted our design! I love the puppy! Such fun!

Our 5 year olds used crayon on old book pages and they came out cute too! You could even skip mounting them on black paper and turn them into ornaments instead!

Love this job!

Last night we had a paint party at P'zazz for the Arthritis Foundation. One of our sweet P'zazz campers was diagnosed with juvenille arthritis ( the little girl n yellow). We had a fabulous time and raised $600. I feel so super blessed to have a job where I can do what I love, have fun, and bless others at the same time! Thank You Jesus! I can't wait to see what else is in store. I know that doing things like this is part of Gods purpose for me and I honestly think this little studio is going to be able to give away lots of money to lots of people.

Christmas decorating

I love my decorator momma. She gets me out doing things that normally I would never take the time for. This year she called me and the kids up to my aunts house to cut fresh greenery for our Christmas decorations. It looks great on the mantle, the dining room table, and even in our pots in the front. Fun memories with the kids! Thanks mom!

I love learning new techniques and trying new things! This week I have been working with layers of paper applied to the canvas. Don't know what I was thinking when I combined my in home studio with the kids play room. Ha! Cade wanted to try his hand at the mod podge.. and of course I let him. He is such a cutie! How can I say no to that face!
